Light, fast, and unapologetically modern for its time, this Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Super Grade in .264 Winchester Magnum, made in 1961, captures the moment when Winchester pushed the pre-64 platform toward speed and reach rather than mass and recoil.
This is a late-production .264, fitted with a 22" barrel with sights and stocked as a true Super Grade: ebony forend tip, steel-capped pistol grip, Monte Carlo stock with cheekpiece, and inletted sling swivel studs fitted with Super Grade swivels. The Winchester ventilated recoil pad keeps the rifle lively without sacrificing control. Everything about the configuration favors long shots and flat trajectory over brute force.
Condition is excellent original, with only the faintest signs of handling from storage—exactly what you want to see on a Super Grade Featherweight. At 7 lbs 8 oz and 13 11/16" LOP, it carries easily and comes to the shoulder quickly, reinforcing why the .264 earned its reputation as a forward-looking cartridge in the early 1960s.
A sharp, late Featherweight Super Grade from Winchester—lean, fast, and purposefully different from the heavier pre-64 magnums that came before it.
