A substantial and historically interesting Westley Richards boxlock, manufactured in 1880 and later professionally sleeved by Kirk Merrington in 1993, making this a fully usable Victorian-era sporting gun with modern shootability. The gun is fitted with 30" solid rib barrels, choked Full and Full (.041 / .041) with 2¾" chambers, a configuration well suited to deliberate driven shooting. The sleeving work is properly executed, allowing continued field use while preserving the character of the original action. Configuration is traditional and purposeful with double triggers, extractor operation, a splinter forearm, and pistol grip stock. The checkered butt with heel and toe plates adds both durability and period-correct detail. At 7 lbs, the gun has the steady, authoritative feel expected of a long-barreled Victorian game gun. Condition is good, showing light handling marks consistent with careful storage and honest use over time. The gun is accompanied by an oak and leather case and a spare set of springs, a thoughtful and increasingly uncommon addition. A solid, shootable Westley Richards boxlock—combining 19th-century provenance with 20th-century barrel work—ideal for the sportsman seeking a classic English gun with real field utility and character.
