A substantial and well-appointed English hammer gun, this Walter Betts Grade O combines classic external-hammer character with the strength and practical features expected of a serious 12 bore. Betts guns are respected for sound construction and straightforward execution, and this example presents as an especially usable hammer gun with modern measurements provided for confidence.

This gun is fitted with 30" solid rib barrels with 2¾" chambers and measured choke constrictions of .015 and .030 (Modified/Full), a traditional and effective combination for longer birds and general field use. It is proofed at 1¼ oz with a proof bore of .719", with current bores measuring approximately .725" left and right. Wall thickness measures approximately .025" in both barrels, providing reassuring barrel dimensions for a gun of this type.

Notable features include a crossbolt, side clips, rebounding hammers, double triggers, and extractors, along with a splinter forearm and pistol grip. The gun has been restocked, giving it a fresh, solid feel, and a Kick-Eez recoil pad has been fitted for comfortable shooting.

Weighing 7 lbs 4 oz, it has the steady, deliberate handling typical of a 30" hammer gun built for real use. Stock dimensions measure 14 7/8" length of pull, 1 7/8" drop at heel, and 1 9/16" drop at comb.
