This is a small gun with serious intent—built light, scaled properly, and finished at a level that reflects Greener’s post-war best work rather than pre-war excess.
The W.W. Greener Model FH-35 / FH-50 28 Gauge, serialed in the 64,xxx range, was completed prior to 1925, with engraving style and finish indicating it was finished after WWI as an FH-50 pattern. The result is a gun that sits firmly in Greener’s mature period, where proportion and handling mattered more than show.
It carries 27" solid rib barrels choked .020 and .026 with 2½" chambers, a notably purposeful setup for a 28 gauge—favoring clean breaks and forward control rather than featherweight whippiness. Features include double triggers, ejectors, a splinter forearm, half pistol grip, and butt plate, all scaled correctly to the gauge.
At just 4 lbs 10 oz, the gun is exceptionally light yet remains field-balanced, avoiding the nervous feel that often plagues sub-gauge doubles. Drop measures 2¾" DAH and 1⅝" DAC, with length of pull approximately 14 3/16". Condition is excellent, showing light handling from careful storage and limited use, with no distractions to wood or metal.
A refined and unusually capable W.W. Greener 28 bore—built for someone who wanted a small gun that behaved like a serious one, not a novelty.
