A powerful, bespoke Purdey Extra Finished Deluxe built without compromise and originally made for legendary film director John Milius. This is not a standard Best gun—it is a purpose-driven, heavily optioned Purdey configured for authority, durability, and unmistakable presence.
Fitted with 30" raised matted rib barrels choked Full & Full, this gun was heavy proofed for 1¼ oz loads with 2¾" chambers, making it a serious shooting Purdey intended for demanding use. Features include a single trigger, automatic ejectors, side clips, third fastener, and a beavertail fore-end, all hallmarks of a reinforced, high-performance configuration rarely encountered on traditional London Bests.
Deep ornamental scroll engraving elevates the gun visually, while the pistol grip and recoil pad underscore its practical, no-nonsense intent. At 7 lbs 10 oz, the gun has the mass and balance to manage heavy loads smoothly while maintaining classic Purdey handling.
Built as a true custom order for a larger-than-life personality, this Purdey stands apart from typical Royal configurations—stronger, bolder, and unapologetically purposeful.
