PAUL JAEGER FRANZ MARKTL CUSTOM PRE 64 MODEL 70 30-06

A distinguished post-war American custom — Paul Jaeger / Franz Marktl custom built on a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 action, chambered in .30-06 Springfield.

Paul Jaeger’s name is synonymous with classic mid-century American custom rifles, and Franz Marktl’s stocking work further elevates this piece. Built on the revered pre-64 Model 70 action, the rifle retains the mechanical strength and smooth controlled-round-feed operation that made the platform legendary among serious hunters.

The rifle is fitted with a 24" barrel with iron sights, preserving the traditional sporting configuration and allowing it to stand confidently without reliance on optics. A jeweled bolt adds a refined finishing touch consistent with quality custom work of the era.

Weighing 8 lbs 7 oz with a 13¾" length of pull, the rifle balances as a true field .30-06 should — substantial enough for steady shooting yet practical for all-day carry.

Condition is excellent, presenting as a well-preserved example of classic American custom craftsmanship.

A Jaeger/Marktl pre-64 Model 70 represents a meaningful chapter in American sporting rifle history — blending Old World influence with post-war American custom gunmaking tradition in one highly usable and collectible package.
