A beautifully executed mid-century American custom — Paul Jaeger Custom Mauser chambered in .243 Winchester, combining precision chambering with refined, Old World-inspired detailing.
Built on a Mauser action and bearing serial number 12XX, this rifle features a 22" barrel fitted with a Lyman receiver sight and hooded front sight, maintaining traditional sporting capability. It is additionally equipped with a Redfield 3–9x scope, offering practical versatility for both woods and open-country use.
The rifle displays the hallmarks of Jaeger’s elevated custom work, including a two-panel checkered and jeweled bolt, engraved grip cap and bolt shroud, and an engraved trigger guard. An ebony forend tip adds visual contrast, while the Niedner-style steel butt plate reinforces its classic American custom pedigree.
Weighing 8 lbs 7 oz with the scope installed and measuring 13¼" length of pull, the rifle balances as a steady, well-proportioned sporting arm — substantial enough for controlled shooting yet chambered in the mild, versatile .243 Winchester.
Condition remains excellent, showing only light wear consistent with careful use and age.
A refined example of Paul Jaeger’s craftsmanship — blending practical field performance with tasteful engraving and traditional custom rifle architecture.
