This Merkel Model 280/360 two-barrel set in 28 Gauge and .410 bore reflects the Suhl maker’s talent for building small-bore guns that feel deliberate rather than delicate. With both barrel sets at 28" and solid rib, the emphasis stays on consistency and swing rather than novelty.

The 28-gauge barrels are choked .003 and .013 with 2¾" chambers, while the .410 set carries .010 and .018 constrictions with 3" chambers, giving each gauge its own personality without changing the gun’s handling. The layout remains traditional and purposeful: double triggers, ejectors, English grip, and two splinter forearms, all paired with a leather-covered recoil pad.

Weights are telling—5 lbs 8 oz with the 28-gauge barrels and 5 lbs 15 oz with the .410 set—light enough to stay lively, yet field-balanced enough to avoid the nervous feel common to sub-gauge doubles. Stock dimensions (2 11/16" DAH, 1 3/8" DAC, 14 13/16" LOP) support a smooth, controlled mount across both configurations.

Condition is excellent, near new, with only very light handling from careful storage. The gun is cased in its factory takedown case and accompanied by the original manual and warranty cards, a strong plus for completeness.
