L.C. SMITH HUNTER ARMS GRADE 3E 16 GAUGE

A genuinely rare and highly desirable L.C. Smith Hunter Arms Grade 3E 16 Gauge ejector gun, manufactured circa 1918 and representing one of the scarcest configurations in the L.C. Smith lineup. Only 226 Grade 3E 16-gauge ejector guns were produced, and this example is one of just two known built with 27" barrels—a standout specification that places it firmly in advanced-collector territory.

The gun is fitted with 27" solid rib Damascus barrels, choked IC and Full (.005 / .032) with 2¾" chambers, and retains excellent bores. The longer barrel length gives the gun exceptional balance and authority while preserving the lively handling that makes the 16 gauge so appealing. Classic details include twin ivory beads, a three-position safety, double triggers, and automatic ejectors.

Stocked with a Prince of Wales (half pistol) grip, splinter forearm, and a recoil pad, the gun weighs just 6 lbs 12 oz, making it both substantial and graceful in the hands. Condition is very good, with only light, honest handling to the wood and metal—exactly what one hopes to see on a rare, original Smith that has been carefully owned.
