Made in 1924, this Greifelt Best sideplate 16 gauge represents the high standard of pre-war German gunmaking, where mechanical precision and refined execution were paramount. Suhl-built Greifelt guns are respected for their robust actions, careful regulation, and understated elegance, and their best-quality sideplate models stand comfortably alongside their English and Continental contemporaries.

This example is fitted with 28" solid raised rib barrels with 2¾" chambers and measured choke constrictions of .003 and .004 (IC/IC), offering an open, highly effective configuration for upland shooting. The gun features double triggers, automatic ejectors, and side clips, along with a splinter forearm and English grip. It is finished with a horn butt, maintaining its original period character.

Weighing 6 lbs 12 oz, the gun balances evenly and carries with ease. Stock dimensions measure 14¼" length of pull, 2¾" drop at heel, and 1⅞" drop at comb, reflecting traditional European proportions intended for instinctive field shooting.

Condition is very good to excellent, showing very light handling marks and remaining in original condition. The gun presents as carefully preserved, with no signs of abuse or heavy use, and retains the crispness expected of a high-quality pre-war sporting arm.
