A serious custom rifle built on one of the most coveted American sporting actions ever produced, this Duane Wiebe–built pre-war Winchester Model 70 in .338 Winchester Magnum combines legendary foundation with master-level execution. The donor action dates to 1941, firmly within the pre-war era that collectors and shooters alike prize for metallurgy, machining, and feel.

Wiebe rifle #0301 is fitted with a 23" Krieger barrel, executed in an elegant octagon-to-round profile and finished with an integral quarter rib carrying one standing and one folding leaf, along with a hooded front sight—a classic and highly functional dangerous-game style sighting arrangement. A detachable muzzle brake (not photographed) adds versatility without compromising the rifle’s traditional lines.

Optics are handled by a claw-mounted Swarovski Habicht 2.5–10x42, a rugged, repeatable setup that allows instant return to irons while preserving zero. Stock and metal details reflect Wiebe’s hallmark restraint and precision: ebony forearm tip, four-panel checkered bolt, steel-capped pistol grip, cheekpiece, barrel-band front sling swivel, and inletted rear sling stud—all executed cleanly and correctly.

The rifle balances beautifully at 8 lbs 11 oz without the scope and 9 lbs 15 oz with it mounted, giving it the mass needed to manage the .338 Win Mag while remaining quick and confident in the hands. A 14" LOP provides modern, shootable proportions.

A no-compromise custom pre-war Model 70, built by one of America’s most respected rifle makers—ideal for the hunter who wants true authority in the field or the collector who appreciates elite custom work on the right action, done the right way.
