CUSTOM WINCHESTER MODEL 70 FEATHERWEIGHT PRE 64 30-06

Built on a 1960-dated Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight action, this custom .30-06 represents the best of the classic American bolt rifle tradition—combining the legendary controlled-round-feed Model 70 foundation with tasteful custom upgrades executed to a very high standard. While the maker is unknown and no shop markings are present, the quality of the work is immediately evident throughout.

The rifle is fitted with a 22" barrel and retains practical iron sights, including an open rear and ramped front sight, keeping it fully usable with or without optics. It is currently equipped with a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5–5x20, an ideal low-power hunting scope that complements the Featherweight concept perfectly.

Custom details include a three-panel checkered bolt, steel-capped pistol grip, steel floorplate, and a classic Neidner-style widow’s peak checkered buttplate with trap door capable of holding three rounds—a particularly attractive and functional period-style feature. Additional appointments include an ebony forend tip, cheekpiece, and sling swivel studs, rounding out the rifle’s refined, traditional sporting profile.

Weighing 7 lbs 14 oz with a 14" length of pull, it balances with a steady, authoritative feel while remaining practical for real hunting use.

A thoughtfully executed custom Pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight in .30-06—a rifle built on one of America’s finest actions, upgraded with classic custom features and excellent taste, ideal for the hunter or collector who appreciates traditional workmanship and timeless utility.
