A historically significant Belgian bar-action hammer pigeon gun, this Chevalier 12 Gauge, manufactured by Lebeau-Courally, carries exceptional provenance and serious competition pedigree. The gun comes from the personal collection of Dan Dumont and was originally owned by Billy Perdue, a name synonymous with elite live-bird shooting—placing this piece squarely in the upper tier of documented pigeon guns.
The gun is fitted with 29 5/8" Whitworth steel solid rib barrels choked .017 and .027, nitro proofed for 2¾" chambers, and built with all the structural hallmarks expected of a top-level pigeon gun: side clips, a third fastener, double triggers, and extractors. Barrel dimensions are sound, with .029 wall thickness left and right and .727/.727 bores, confirming proper proportions for sustained live-bird use.
Configured with a splinter forearm, English grip, and cast-off stock, the gun was clearly built for a right-handed competitive shooter. A Decelerator recoil pad with 1" spacer (pad itself measuring ¾") has been fitted for comfort. It weighs 7 lbs 3 oz and measures 1¾" DAH, 1½" DAC, and 15¼" LOP, offering a fast yet authoritative balance typical of hammer pigeon guns.
Condition is great overall, showing handling marks from storage and use, along with some light pitting in both barrels—honestly represented and consistent with a gun that saw serious competitive service. Mechanics remain sound.
A rare opportunity to acquire a Lebeau-Courally-built Chevalier hammer pigeon gun with elite provenance, proper construction, and documented ownership—an authentic live-bird gun built to perform at the highest level.
