Built in 1910 for the Maharaja Sahib of Patiala, this is a significant Charles Lancaster Best sidelock ejector 10 bore, carrying strong historical interest alongside a highly usable large-bore configuration.
Originally built with 36" barrels and now measuring 31 5/8", the gun is currently fitted with Briley screw-in chokes (Modified and Full) and remains chambered for approximately 3 1/4" cartridges with 2 oz. loads, retaining its intended heavy game capability. The barrels bear Nitro Proof (NP) marks.
The gun is configured with double triggers, ejectors, splinter forearm, and recoil pad, consistent with a working best-quality British sporting gun of the period.
Condition is great overall with some handling to wood and metal finishes from storage and use. The gun presents as a well-maintained and serviceable example. It should be noted that the barrels have been reduced from their original 36" length to 31 5/8", now providing a more manageable configuration while still retaining the presence and performance expected of a 10 bore.
Weight is 11 lbs., with stock dimensions of 2 5/16" DAH, 1 3/8" DAC, and 14 7/8" LOP, giving the gun the mass and balance appropriate for heavy loads and driven shooting.
The gun is offered in its original Charles Lancaster case, an important addition that complements the history and presentation.
A best-quality Lancaster with direct association to one of the most prominent Indian ruling houses—combining provenance, bore size, and usability in a way rarely encountered on the market.
