BAKER GUN CO. BATAVIA LEADER 12 GAUGE DAMASCUS

Baker Gun Co. Batavia Leader 12 Gauge | 30" Damascus Barrels

A solid original Baker Gun Co. Batavia Leader 12 gauge, retaining its 30" Damascus steel barrels and traditional American field-gun configuration.

The solid rib barrels are choked Modified and Full (.014 and .035 constrictions) with 2 3/4" chambers, a classic combination for a sporting double of the period.

The gun is equipped with double triggers, extractor, splinter forearm, pistol grip stock, and butt plate. The simple, purposeful configuration is representative of the Batavia line and Baker's more affordable working guns.

This example remains in very good original condition, showing handling to the wood and metal finishes consistent with age and use. Importantly, the gun retains the honest character of an original example rather than the appearance of a later restoration.

Weight is 7 lbs. 13 oz., with stock dimensions of 3 1/16" DAH, 2" DAC, and 14 1/4" LOP.

The Batavia Leader represents the practical side of Baker production, and surviving examples with their original Damascus barrels and finishes provide an interesting look at the American sporting double of the period. A straightforward, honest Baker with considerable vintage character.
