Armstrong & Co. Boxlock Ejector 20 Gauge | 28" Barrels | Cased
A trim Armstrong & Co. boxlock ejector, now configured as a 20 gauge and offering the proportions and handling expected of a traditional British game gun.
Of particular note, the gun was originally chambered in 16 gauge and has been chamber-sleeved to 20 gauge. The conversion is disclosed here as an important part of the gun's present configuration.
The 28" solid rib barrels are choked Skeet and Improved Cylinder (.004 and .011 constrictions) with 2 3/4" chambers. The bores remain bright and shiny with no dings or bulges.
The gun features double triggers, ejectors, splinter forearm, English grip stock, and a leather-covered recoil pad—a classic game-gun layout complemented by relatively open chokes for upland and close-range field shooting.
Condition remains excellent, showing only light handling to the wood and metal finishes from careful use and storage.
At 6 lbs. 4 oz., the gun carries easily and retains the lively feel desirable in a small-bore double. Stock dimensions measure 2 1/4" DAH, 1 7/16" DAC, and a generous 15" LOP.
The gun is housed in a canvas takedown case with accessories.
A practical and well-presented British boxlock with ejectors, 28" barrels, open chokes, and light overall weight. While the chamber-sleeving removes the originality sought by some collectors, the resulting 20 gauge configuration makes this an interesting choice for the sportsman looking for a traditional English-style field gun intended to be carried and enjoyed.
