A legendary American waterfowling gun, this A.H. Fox HE Super Fox 12 Gauge represents one of the most purpose-built heavy doubles ever produced. Designed specifically for long-range waterfowl shooting, the Super Fox is renowned for its strength, weight, and ability to handle stout loads—and this example embodies those traits.
The gun wears 30" solid rib barrels choked Improved Modified and Full (.028/.041) and is currently configured with 3" chambers. Factory records indicate the gun originally left with 2¾" chambers; however, a Callahan letter explains it was likely rechambered at the factory, as the gun is properly proofed for 3" shells, a practice consistent with documented Super Fox work.
Configured with double triggers, ejectors, a splinter forearm, pistol grip, and butt plate, it retains the purposeful, workmanlike lines that define the HE grade. The gun appears to have been reconditioned at some point, and today presents in excellent condition, showing only very light handling to the wood and metal.
Weighing 8 lbs 12 oz, with dimensions of 2¾" DAH, 1¾" DAC, and 14 1/16" LOP, it has the mass and balance intended to tame heavy waterfowl loads.
A strong, correct-feeling Super Fox that presents beautifully today—an iconic American double with the history, presence, and performance the model is famous for.
