from j.p.daeschler about the pair
The pair of the Dicksons that Steve has for sale are quite significant in the history of Dicksons. They were built to commemorate the centenary of John Dickson opening his first shop in Princes Street, Edinburgh in 1838. These guns were delivered in 1937 and engraved by master engraver, Harry Kell. They were here in the UK at some point in the 1980's as I know they went through Sothebys House at Gleneagles in August 1983.
Built as best quality guns they are more of a curio than practical shooting guns, hence the minimal wear.”
